  • 1 pound Beef sirloin, flank, or round steak thinly sliced
  • 4 cups Broccoli florets
  • 0.5 cup Soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup Beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 2 cloves Minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Minced fresh ginger
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, cornstarch, and sesame oil; set aside.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

Cooking

  • Add the sliced beef to the skillet and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  • Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet, then add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3-5 minutes until tender-crisp.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and ginger, and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  • Return the cooked beef to the skillet and pour in the reserved sauce; cook until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli, about 2-3 minutes.

Serving

  • Serve immediately with steamed rice, if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the beef in a tablespoon of soy sauce and a teaspoon of cornstarch for 15 minutes before cooking.
