  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 can (10.75 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 8 oz egg noodles
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Cook the ground beef and chopped onion in a large skillet over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is softened; drain any excess fat.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.
  • Stir in 1.5 cups of shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and black pepper into the soup mixture.

Assembly and Baking

  • Cook the egg noodles according to package directions, then drain them well.
  • Add the cooked and drained egg noodles to the skillet with the beef and onion, then pour the soup mixture over the top and stir to combine.
  • Transfer the entire mixture to your prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
  • Sprinkle the remaining 0.5 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the casserole.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the cheese is melted and lightly golden.

Notes

For an extra kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the ground beef. You can also substitute different types of cheese or add vegetables like peas or corn for variety.
