Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 large cans (28 oz each) canned baked beans (Bush's original or similar)
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons mustard (yellow or Dijon)

  • 0.5 cup chopped onion

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grab a large, oven-safe casserole dish.
  • Open the two large cans of baked beans and pour them directly into the casserole dish.
  • Add the brown sugar, ketchup, and mustard to the beans, stirring well to combine.
  • Stir in the liquid smoke (if using) and the chopped onion, ensuring all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  • Sprinkle the cooked and crumbled bacon over the top of the bean mixture.
  • Place the casserole dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the beans are bubbly and heated through.

Notes

For an extra kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce. You can also customize by adding different types of cooked meat like pulled pork or smoked sausage. If you prefer a richer flavor, cook the chopped onion with the bacon before adding it to the beans.
