  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon ground

Topping

  • 0.25 cup flour
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Peel and cut sweet potatoes into 1-inch cubes, then boil them until very tender, which usually takes about 15-20 minutes.

Mixing

  • Drain the sweet potatoes and mash them in a large bowl until smooth; then, mix in melted butter, milk, brown sugar, beaten eggs, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
  • For the topping, combine chopped pecans, flour, and brown sugar in a separate bowl, then cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Baking

  • Spread the sweet potato mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish, sprinkle the topping over it, and bake for 30-35 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the casserole is heated through.

Notes

For an extra touch, toast the pecans before adding them to the topping for a deeper flavor. You can also add a pinch of nutmeg to the sweet potato mixture for added warmth.
