Ingredients

Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Breading

  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

Sauce and Cheese

  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking dish with a light coating of cooking spray.
  • Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness of about 1/2 inch.
  • Set up three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with grated Parmesan.

Cooking

  • Dredge each chicken breast in flour, then dip it in egg, and finally coat it thoroughly with the breadcrumb mixture.
  • Heat a large skillet with olive oil over medium-high heat. Fry each chicken breast for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.

  • Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

For extra crispiness, you can lightly toast the breadcrumbs before mixing with Parmesan. Ensure the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) for food safety.
