Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • 9x13 inch baking dish
  • Medium bowl
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

Meat Sauce

  • 1 lb Ground beef or sausage (lean)
  • 24 oz Jarred marinara sauce (or your favorite)

Cheese Mixture

  • 15 oz Ricotta cheese
  • 1 Egg
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

Other

  • 9 No-boil lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • 0.5 cup Water

Instructions

The "Growth" Process

  • Brown the ground meat in a large skillet, then drain any excess fat. Stir in the jarred marinara sauce and 0.5 cup of water, bringing the mixture to a simmer.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, and Italian seasoning to create the cheese filling.
  • Assemble the lasagna by layering a thin coat of meat sauce at the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish, followed by a layer of no-boil lasagna noodles, then the ricotta mixture, and finally a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese; repeat the layers, ending with meat sauce and mozzarella on top. Cover and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 5 minutes until bubbly and golden.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding finely chopped onions and garlic to your meat sauce. You can also customize the cheese mixture with other varieties like provolone or cheddar. Always let the lasagna rest for 5-10 minutes after baking before slicing to help it set and prevent it from falling apart.
