Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb Shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup Cornstarch
  • 2 Egg
  • 2 tbsp Hot sauce
  • 3 tbsp Honey
  • 3 cups Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper.
  • In another bowl, whisk the eggs and hot sauce together until well combined.
  • Dip each shrimp into the egg mixture, then dredge in the flour mixture, ensuring it's fully coated.

Frying

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep pot over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  • Carefully place the coated shrimp into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid crowding the pan.
  • Fry each side for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through; then remove and place on a wire rack to drain excess oil.

Hot Honey Glaze

  • In a small saucepan, gently heat the honey until slightly runny.
  • Drizzle the warm honey over the fried shrimp before serving.

Notes

For extra crispiness, you can double-dredge the shrimp in the egg and flour mixture. Adjust hot sauce to your preferred spice level.
