  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 0.5 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.25 tsp red pepper flakes
  • salt and black pepper to taste

For the Toppings

  • 2 cups iceberg lettuce shredded
  • 1 tomato sliced
  • 0.5 red onion thinly sliced
  • 0.25 cup banana peppers sliced

Preparation

  • Cook the chicken: Season chicken with salt and pepper, then cook until done and shred it.
  • Prepare the grinder sauce: In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, oregano, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes.
  • Assemble the grinder: Slice hoagie rolls lengthwise, spread grinder sauce on both sides, then layer shredded chicken and provolone cheese.
  • Toast the grinder: Place assembled grinders under a broiler or in a toaster oven until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Add toppings: Once toasted, add shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, red onion, and banana peppers.

Notes

For an extra kick, add more red pepper flakes to the grinder sauce. You can also customize toppings with your favorite vegetables or hot peppers.
