  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips optional

Banana Bread Layer

  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas about 2-3 medium bananas
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips optional

Instructions
 

Brownie Layer

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8x8 inch baking pan.
  • Whisk melted butter and granulated sugar, then beat in eggs and vanilla extract.
  • Stir in flour, cocoa powder, and salt until just combined, then fold in chocolate chips if using.
  • Spread the brownie batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.

Banana Bread Layer

  • In a separate bowl, mash ripe bananas and mix with granulated sugar, egg, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Combine the wet and dry ingredients for the banana bread, then fold in chocolate chips if desired.
  • Carefully spoon the banana bread batter over the brownie layer in the baking pan and gently spread.

Bake and Serve

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
