  • 5 medium flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter

Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients and heat a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat.
  • Lightly butter one side of each tortilla and place one tortilla, butter-side down, in the heated pan.
  • Sprinkle about 1/5 of the shredded cheese evenly over the tortilla.

Cooking

  • Place a second tortilla on top of the cheese, butter-side up, and cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
  • Flip the quesadilla and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the second side is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove the cooked quesadilla from the pan and repeat the process for the remaining tortillas and cheese.

Serving

  • Cut each quesadilla into wedges and serve immediately with your favorite toppings such as salsa or sour cream.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of garlic powder or cumin to the cheese, or include a thin layer of cooked, shredded chicken or beans before adding the top tortilla.
