Equipment

  • Fondue pot
  • Heavy-bottomed saucepan
  • Wooden spoon or whisk

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb Gruyere cheese, shredded
  • 1.5 cups Dry white wine (like Sauvignon Blanc)
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch

Instructions

Preparation

  • Toss the shredded Gruyere cheese with cornstarch in a bowl, ensuring all cheese is lightly coated.
  • Heat the dry white wine in a fondue pot or heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
  • Gradually add the cornstarch-coated cheese to the wine, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon or whisk until the cheese is fully melted and smooth.

Serving

  • Once the fondue is smooth and creamy, reduce the heat to low to keep it warm, then transfer to a fondue pot if using a saucepan.
  • Serve immediately with your favorite dippers like bread cubes, apple slices, or blanched vegetables.

Notes

For best results, use a good quality Gruyere cheese. If the fondue becomes too thick, stir in a splash of warm wine. If it's too thin, whisk a small amount of cornstarch mixed with a tablespoon of wine, then stir into the fondue and heat until thickened.
