Instructions

Peach Filling

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches with sugar, flour, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg; mix gently to coat all peaches evenly.
  • Pour the peach mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.

Cobbler Topping

  • In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Gradually add the milk, mixing until just combined; do not overmix.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the cobbler topping over the peach mixture, leaving some gaps for the peaches to bubble through.

Baking and Serving

  • Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbling.
  • Let the cobbler cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
  • Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of almond extract to the peach filling. If using frozen peaches, ensure they are thawed and drained before use to prevent a watery cobbler. You can also experiment with other fruits like berries or apples for variations.
