  • 1 head green cabbage medium, cored and chopped
  • 4 slices bacon chopped
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Preparation

  • In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy.
  • Remove the bacon from the skillet, reserving about 1 tablespoon of bacon fat.
  • Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the bacon fat and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  • Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet and mix well with the onions and garlic.
  • Pour in the apple cider vinegar, then season with salt and black pepper.
  • Cover the skillet and cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender.
  • Stir in the crispy bacon bits just before serving.

Notes

For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the garlic. You can also add smoked sausage for a heartier meal.
