  • whisk

Ingredients

Cobbler

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

Fruit Filling (optional)

  • 21 oz canned fruit pie filling

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease an 8x8 inch baking dish.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Stir in the milk and melted butter until just combined; do not overmix.

Assembly and Baking

  • If using, spread the fruit pie filling evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  • Pour the batter over the fruit filling (or directly into the dish if not using fruit).
  • In a small bowl, combine the 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon for the topping, then sprinkle evenly over the batter.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Serving

  • Let the cobbler cool slightly before serving warm, perhaps with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon-sugar topping. This cobbler is delicious on its own or served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
