  • Thin seedlings to 6-8 inches apart once they have 2-3 true leaves.
  • Water regularly, aiming for 1 inch of water per week and apply mulch to conserve moisture.
  • Fertilize every 2-3 weeks with a balanced liquid fertilizer and protect from pests by inspecting plants regularly and applying neem oil or insecticidal soap if needed.

Harvesting and Enjoying

  • Harvest outer leaves once they are 6-8 inches long or cut the entire head at the base.
  • Wash and dry your freshly harvested Romaine lettuce thoroughly.
  • Tear or chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces and place in a large bowl.
  • Add Caesar dressing, croutons, and Parmesan cheese, then toss gently to combine and serve immediately.

Notes

For continuous harvest, plant a new batch of seeds every 2-3 weeks. Romaine lettuce prefers cooler temperatures, so consider shading during hot summer months to prevent bolting.
