  • 9x13 inch baking pan
  • medium bowl
  • whisk
  • large bowl
  • toothpick

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Optional additions

  • ½ cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt; set aside.

Mixing

  • In a large bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar, then beat in eggs one at a time until well combined, followed by the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined, being careful not to overmix, and fold in chocolate chips if using.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  • Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

For extra fudgy brownies, slightly underbake them. For a crackly top, ensure your butter and sugar are well combined before adding eggs. Avoid overmixing the batter for a tender crumb.
