  • 2.25 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk, warm
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions

Make the Dough

  • Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  • Add melted butter, egg, flour, and salt to the yeast mixture, then mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours or until doubled in size.

Prepare the Filling

  • In a medium bowl, combine diced strawberries, sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch. Mix well.

Assemble the Rolls

  • Punch down the risen dough and roll it into a 12x18 inch rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
  • Spread the strawberry filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border.
  • Roll the dough tightly from the long side and cut into 12 equal-sized rolls.
  • Place the rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes in a warm place.

Bake and Frost

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • While the rolls are baking, cream together softened cream cheese and butter in a medium bowl.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth, then add milk to reach desired consistency.
  • Once baked, let the cinnamon rolls cool slightly before spreading the cream cheese frosting.

Notes

For best results, make sure your yeast is fresh and active. You can test it by letting it bloom in warm milk with a pinch of sugar; if it's foamy after 5-10 minutes, it's good to go. Enjoy these warm for a truly decadent experience!
