  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
  • 1 egg

For the Breading

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions
 

Prepare the Shrimp

  • Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture and ensure a crispy result.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together buttermilk, hot sauce, and egg; then add the shrimp, tossing to coat, and let it marinate for 15 minutes.

Prepare the Breading

  • In another bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, ensuring it's fully coated, shaking off any excess.

Fry the Shrimp

  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep pot to 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry the shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown and cooked through; then remove and drain on a wire rack.

Make the Hot Honey Sauce

  • In a small saucepan, combine honey, hot sauce, and apple cider vinegar; then bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until well combined.

Serve

  • Toss the fried shrimp with the hot honey sauce, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra crispiness, ensure the oil is at the correct temperature before frying. Do not overcrowd the pan while frying to maintain oil temperature and achieve even cooking.
