Equipment

  • medium bowl
  • large skillet or wok
  • knife
  • cutting board

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin sliced thinly
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 carrots julienned
  • 1 large bell pepper sliced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp ginger grated
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cups rice cooked, for serving

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, combine the thinly sliced beef sirloin with soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, and cornstarch. Toss to coat the beef evenly and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  • Prepare all your vegetables by slicing the bell pepper, julienning the carrots, and separating the broccoli into florets.

Cooking

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Once shimmering, add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned and cooked through, then remove it from the skillet and set aside.
  • Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Add the broccoli florets and carrots, stir-frying for 3-4 minutes until they are slightly tender-crisp.
  • Add the sliced bell pepper to the skillet and continue to stir-fry for another 2 minutes until all vegetables are bright and tender-crisp.
  • Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Toss everything together for 1-2 minutes to heat through and coat with any remaining sauce.

Serving

  • Serve the hot beef stir fry immediately over cooked rice.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the stir fry. Ensure all ingredients are prepped before you start cooking, as stir-frying is a fast process.
