Equipment

  • medium bowl
  • shallow dish or resealable plastic bag
  • grill
  • meat thermometer
  • cutting board
  • foil

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 cloves, minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon, grated ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons, chopped (for garnish) cilantro

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the orange juice, lime juice, lemon juice, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes to create the marinade.
  • Place the chicken breasts in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag, then pour the prepared marinade over the chicken, ensuring it is fully coated.
  • Refrigerate the marinating chicken for at least 30 minutes, or preferably for 1 to 2 hours, to allow the flavors to meld and tenderize the chicken.
  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, and lightly oil the grill grates to prevent the chicken from sticking during cooking.

Grilling

  • Remove the chicken from the marinade, discarding any remaining marinade to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Place the marinated chicken breasts on the hot grill and cook for 6-8 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the chicken is fully cooked.
  • Transfer the grilled chicken to a clean cutting board, tent it with foil, and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing, allowing the juices to redistribute for a tender and flavorful result.

Serving

  • Garnish the sliced grilled chicken with fresh chopped cilantro, adding a vibrant touch and fresh aroma.
  • Serve the Key West Grilled Chicken immediately with your favorite side dishes, such as rice, grilled vegetables, or a fresh salad, to complete your meal.

Notes

For extra flavor, zest some of the citrus fruits into the marinade. Adjust red pepper flakes for desired spice level.
