  • 2 lbs green beans, frozen or canned, drained
  • 1 can (10.75 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1.5 cups French fried onions, divided

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grab a 1.5-quart baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, combine the green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce (or Worcestershire sauce), and pepper, mixing well.
  • Stir in 1 cup of the French fried onions, then pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.

Baking

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the mixture is bubbly.
  • Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of French fried onions over the top and bake for another 5 minutes, until golden brown.

Serving

  • Let the casserole stand for a few minutes before serving to allow it to set.

Notes

For a richer flavor, you can sauté some fresh mushrooms and onions to add to the casserole mix. If using fresh green beans, blanch them first until tender-crisp. You can also experiment with different types of fried onions or even add a sprinkle of cheese for extra decadence.
