  • 2 inches ginger
  • 2 inches turmeric
  • 1 whole lemon
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon honey optional

  • Wash and peel the ginger and turmeric roots.
  • Roughly chop the peeled ginger and turmeric and place them in a blender.
  • Squeeze the juice from the lemon into the blender and add the black pepper and water.
  • Blend all the ingredients until smooth, then strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or nut milk bag.
  • Press down on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible and discard the pulp.
  • Stir in honey if desired, then pour the mixture into shot glasses and serve immediately, or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.

Notes

For extra benefits, you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper. Adjust honey to your taste or omit for a sugar-free shot.
