  • 12 ounces linguine or fettuccine pasta
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1.5 cups heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup chicken broth
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

Cajun Seasoning Blend

  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 0.5 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Preparation

  • Toss the peeled and deveined shrimp with 1 tablespoon of Cajun seasoning in a bowl.

Cooking

  • Cook pasta according to package directions, then drain and set aside.
  • Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat, then add shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque; remove and set aside.
  • Add remaining butter to the skillet, then sauté bell peppers and onion for 5-7 minutes until softened.
  • Stir in minced garlic and remaining Cajun seasoning, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Pour in heavy cream and chicken broth, bringing the mixture to a simmer and cooking for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  • Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth, then add the cooked pasta and shrimp, tossing to combine.
  • Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For extra heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce. This dish is best served immediately to enjoy the creamy texture of the pasta.
