Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Plastic wrap
  • 6-quart crockpot
  • Parchment paper (optional)
  • Wire rack

Ingredients

Bread Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Active dry yeast
  • 1.5 cups Warm water

Instructions

Preparation

  • Combine flour, salt, yeast, and warm water in a large mixing bowl. Mix until a shaggy dough forms, then cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise at room temperature for several hours (ideally 8-12 hours, or overnight) until doubled in size.

Baking

  • Once the dough has risen, gently shape it into a round loaf. Lightly flour the inside of a 6-quart crockpot or line it with parchment paper, then carefully place the shaped dough inside.

Finishing

  • Cover the crockpot and cook on high for 2-3 hours, or until the crust is golden brown and the internal temperature of the bread reaches 200-210°F (93-99°C).

Serving Suggestion

  • Carefully remove the bread from the crockpot and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving. For an even crispier crust, you can transfer the cooked bread to a hot oven (400°F/200°C) for 10-15 minutes after crockpot cooking.

Notes

For an extra crispy crust, you can briefly transfer the cooked bread to a hot oven after cooking in the crockpot.
