  • 10 oz fresh spinach
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 0.5 cups Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 0.25 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 24 oz marinara sauce

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
  • Stir in the fresh spinach until well combined.
  • Spread half of the marinara sauce in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  • Evenly spread the spinach and cheese mixture over the marinara sauce.
  • Top with the remaining marinara sauce and sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese.

Baking

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the dish is heated through.

Serving

  • Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add some cooked ground Italian sausage or mushrooms to the spinach mixture before baking. This dish can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated. Just add an additional 10 minutes to the baking time if baking from cold.
